Mary, Elizabeth & Friendship
What does a 2,000-year-old girl talk and look like? The Gospel tells us in the story of the Visitation, recorded in Luke Chapter 1. This week, we celebrate that special feast when Mary visits Elizabeth. So what can women learn from this friendship? Help a sister out. The Visitation involves a first-trimester mother traveling cross-country to serve a friend. Who needs your help this week? Affirm each other. Elizabeth's first words were ones of encouragement. We may know our friends' flaws, but we don't need to fixate on them. Sing out loud. Mary ends their encounter with the Magnificat, one of the most celebrated song-prayers of Scripture.
